Trip to Orlando

My Orlando Adventure

Traveling from Australia to Orlando was quite a trek, but I was tired of the same old routine day after day. Don’t get me wrong, our country is beautiful, but just like anything else in the world, it becomes a little mundane after a while. I knew Orlando would wake up all my senses and I was correct! My only dilemma for the trip was that my beautiful girlfriend was not able to go due to work. It felt a little strange traveling alone, but at the same time, it was also a great way to clear my mind.

Orlando was my first experience in the United States so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. To my surprise, from the second I landed, everybody was very friendly. I’m not sure if this was because they were people working for the airport or because they were naturally friendly, but it’s still a lot better than some other countries where they look at you as though you’re a potential international criminal or a drug smuggler.

At the airport, I was able to find cheap car rentals with ease. This made life easy from the start. On the way to my hotel, I noticed all the signs for all the different attractions. I couldn’t believe how much there was to do. I felt like I was in some type of fantasyland, which was fine with me. I had saved up plenty of money for the trip so I was ready to do it all.

On my first day in Orlando, I wasted no time and went straight to Disneyworld. I had heard a lot about how crowded it can get, but I went early in the morning and there were no crowds at all. I climbed an enormous tree, went in an underwater submarine with crazy creatures swimming about and I shot through the dark on Space Mountain. That was the ultimate adrenaline rush. I even got to talk to Mickey Mouse. Since I’m an adult and there were other kids around waiting their turn, the conversation was short, but it was still pretty neat. I know it’s a person in a costume, but I was using my imagination.

On my second day in Orlando, I headed straight for Sea World. Everyone seems to love the whale show there. I did as well, but believe it or not, my favorite feature was the penguin exhibit. The music was comical, which made the penguins movements all the more entertaining. I also love the moving belt that you can stand on. It makes the whole experience humorous. Perhaps others don’t find it funny, but I do.

On that same day, I still had some time left over in the afternoon so I headed to Epcot Center. I didn’t really want to go there at first, but I’m glad I did. Learning about all the different countries as well as their cultures and food was a lot of fun. And the shows they had were incredible, even though one of them got me a little too wet.

On my third and final day, I visited Universal Studios. I had dinosaurs reaching down to eat me, sharks jumping out of the water to bite me, and The Terminator aiming a gun at my face. Needless to say, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!

On each night, I went out for a bite to eat and visited a local pub for a few drinks. The pubs were active without being too crowded. The prices for drinks were also very fair. While the attractions were on the pricey side, the cheap rental cars and affordable food and drink really helped make this trip affordable. I would highly recommend Orlando to anyone.
